About the novel...
Starters is a young adult fiction book written by Lissa Price. Callie Woodland, a determined, caring, strong-willed sixteen-year-old is a Starter. Callie and her brother live in the rural part of Los Angeles with their friend Michael. Callie travels to Prime Destinations also known as the "body bank" to become a Donor and earn enough money to buy herself and her brother Tyler a house. When she signs a contract, Callie gets a chip inserted into her brain. When her last Renter — Helena Winterhill rents her body, Helena modifies the chip in her head which places Callie in Helena's mind. Helena has a plan to kill the senator and plans to use Callie to do it. After Callie finds out about this plan, she decides to go to Prime Destinations to get the chip fix. Helena then warns her that they will kill her if she goes back and promises to buy Callie a house to live in. Determined to win that house from Helena to house Tyler in Callie goes in with the plan. Will Callie assassinate the senator in time? Or will she be assassinated herself?

Callie Woodland is the main protagonist and the narrator of the series Starters. Callie lost both of her parents in the Spore Wars when she was 13 years old. Ever since, she has been living in the rural and poor parts of Los Angeles, fighting to stay alive from Renegades and Marshals.
Callie is living with her brother in a old hotel in a city outside of Beverly Hills. Callie decides to become a Donor so she can buy her brother a house.
